Hard to Explain
The weekend:
- Called ex-girlfriend just to see if she was doing all right.
- Had lunch with the family at the Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay for Mother's Day.
- Over dessert Mom and Dad told me they wanted to set me up with a woman who goes to their church. "Is she stacked?" I asked. Ignoring my question, they told me she's an assistant district attorney. "Is she hella old?" I asked. My sister Hannah ignored my question and said I should give this woman a ring. I pointed out I was a cash-strapped grad student who was busy undergoing a second adolescence. "Niggas, please," I pleaded. And then I asked Mom if I could try some of her flan.
- Read in the New York Times site that a sequel to the film Before Sunrise -- a movie I like a lot because I'm a tremendous homosexual -- is coming out this summer. (Halfway through the article, I opened another browser and bought the Before Sunrise DVD, which, like most of my DVDs, I'll probably watch once and never again.) The Times article was an interview with Richard Linklater, Julie Delpy and esteemed literary light Ethan Hawke. It would appear the author of the article was she, whose site I visited a couple times because it's listed on her link page.
- Thought about starting work on two papers due Thursday.
- Got punched in the face Saturday night outside a Carrows.

Too bad this wasn't a photo essay.
